Kaspersky Lab, a global cybersecurity firm, says Nigeria is among the top 10 countries globally where users of mobile devices experienced attack by malware in 2018.
Kaspersky, in its Mobile malware evolution 2018 report, added that Nigeria climbed two places to become the third country out of 10 attacked by mobile malware, recording 37.72 percent of the attacks.
According to the findings of researchers, four African countries made the list in terms of top 10 countries by share of users attacked by mobile malware.
It stated that Algeria came in fifth, with users recording 35.06 percent of the attacks, Tanzania in eighth place with 31.34 percent of the malware and Kenya in ninth place with 29.72 percent.
According to the cybersecurity firm, researchers have seen the number of attacks using malicious mobile software nearly double in just a year.
In 2018, it said there were 116.5 million attacks, compared to 66.4 million in 2017, with a significant increase in unique users being affected.
